I am sitting here at work trying to decide if I should go home. I just got here. It is obvious that the cold that popped up yesterday afternoon is a result of the increase in temperature and it's accompanying pollen. When I took some Alevert last night just before going to my Tai Chi class, the running nose pretty much stopped. Both my daughter and her husband came down with something over the weekend, probably allergies as well. The antihistamine reaction was a giveaway that my cold is an alergic reaction. I am just about to take another Alevert but I may wait a little longer. Anyway, it's a great day to be alive - the Lord is still in control and my eyes are fixed on Him.

I am thinking of trying out for some Bible teaching positions at the local Equip Institute (part of Washington Bible College). I have taught Bible at my local Bible Church for about 9 years now. I am sure that I would have no problem teaching just about anything they would throw my way. What the issue is, I do not have a degree from a Bible College. They may frown on my background in engineering and management. But I consider them relavent to the undertaking. I have learned quite a lot about teaching over the years since I started, and I owe some of my tenacity to my current degrees.

I have been on a steady weight loss for the past couple of days. I increased the water intake and that seems to have pushed the problem in the right direction. Right now I am sitting on 43.6 pounds of weight loss. My weight has dropped for the last three days straight and that gives me hope. I still haven't stopped the sugar intake from coffee but I have pretty much stopped the outside snacks except for some slices of cheese here and there. The extra water helps to flush the salt gain in those. I am more and more convinced that water is the key here. You just have to get used to drinking a lot of it (in my case I am going for 10 glasses per day over and above any coffee I drink). More later.

The whole festival was kind of different for me. My grandson and my wife enjoyed their time there. I didn't participate in the eats since I am really trying to loose weight. I could have sampled something but I decided not to sample because of the need to loose as much as I can between now and the end of the month. Don't ask me why, it's just a goal of mine. I have been on a never ending plateau and I want off of it. |

This morning I found out that Woody had gotten an iPhone. That is interesting since he seemed to be really interested in mine over the last two weeks we taught class together. I showed him a couple of things about the standard apps and had a discussion with him on the apps that I use the most. I think it is time I get back into defining the GTD mode for my iPhone. Ok, maybe I have to figure out how to wean myself off of this phone.

The Wolverton class went well this morning. I didn't have to teach but Doug did an outstanding job conveying what could have been a difficult subject. He started by going back over what we had already studied in the book of Luke to orient everyone. He then went over the lesson for the day from Luke 7:36-50 concerning Simon the Pharisee. I had never thought about the fact that Simon may have been sent to spy out what Jesus was up to. Just from the way that Jesus was treated gives you an indication of his actual purpose. But, Jesus gives him an object lesson which probably fell short of the intended goal. However, we now have the story to go by and understand the overall lesson. I really got a lot out of the story to think about.

Well, this was my first experience with the Fairfax Chocolate Festival - a place for sampling chocolate treats in various forms and to participate in judging of chocolate entries and bid on some of them in an auction. It is held every year about this time in Fairfax City, VA. This sample was put together by a group of third graders, from the Flint Hill School, showing multiple stadium areas. This was quite inventive.
