Yay ... Looks like my iPhone will finally get multitasking

I really like my iPhone, but there are some things about it and the way that Apple and AT&T do business that really irk me. One of those things is multi-tasking. With multi-tasking I would be able to double up on the way that I process information. As such, I have to do work arounds. True, I shouldn't be doing everything that I can do on a laptop with my iPhone but a guy can wish, right? There is a running article from the boys at ZDNet at http://blogs.zdnet.com/BTL/?p=32863&tag=wrapper;col1 and was a discussion of what went on in the 8 April 2010 presentation by Steve Jobs. The blogged article was from Sam Diaz, who I think did a great job of keeping up with what was going on.

Tired after a long day

I'm a bit tired after a long day of driving today. I ended up going all over the place - it's a good thing that I had a GPS to help me. I think that I had way too many gadgets with me. Funny how you can become addicted so easy to electronics. When I switched over the driving to my wife, she ended up wanting to hear some of my mp3s so I didn't get the chance to read from my iPhone. Oh well better luck next time. Maybe tomorrow won't be so busy.

DLink makes a crappy router!!!

I hate to say it but I find it very troublesome that when I am sitting upstairs in my house not more than 15 feet from a Dlink router with a high gain antenna, that I get a stronger signal from my Linksys router which is downstairs and 60 feet away! That just says that Verizon gave me the cheapest thing they could come up with and I am almost locked into it in order to get newer functions on my FIOS DVR. I hate DRM and the companies that use it. I am just about ready to go back to cable from Cox. At least the network worked like it was supposed to with whatever device I plugged into it for years!!! Gripe Gripe Gripe.

Older Computer Running Ubintu Server

image1966737086.jpgThis snapshot shows an older computer motherboard with what i found to be surprising updates. The motherboard is an older Intel board running dual 800 Mhz Pentium IIIs with roughly 512MB of memory. The surprising thing to me is that (1) I am using a SATA CD drive and 160GB SATA hard drive (have to boot from an ATA drive however, and (2) I am running the latest Ubuntu Server software on it. I thought that Ubuntu needed at least 1 GB of memory to run v9.10. I haven't tried to see if I can get any virtual apps to run yet - I probably can't since I have limited memory to begin with. I am planning on using it to host a ubuntu based router for the bulk of my network. So far I am pretty happy with the setup now to see what else I can do with it.

Got Hooked into Facebook Developer

I just got finished with a connection between the development part of Facebook and a test website for the new diet program I am developing. One of the requirements for the site will be for a login based upon the users Facebook account. I would then have reliance on Facebook to validate the users credentials. The next step will be to determine if the credentials work.

Decided to Add Another Website

I decided to add another website this afternoon. I think this one will be diet based and I am thinking that I will make it accessable to multiple entry points. That means I would like to have it be accessed from iPhones, other cell phones, Facebook, the web, other sites through a service interface, etc. I think this is a doable project, and I might be able to make some money in the process. I already have a top level set of requirements for the site and need to run it through a couple of friends before I start.

Wow, I Sold an iPhone ... Sorta

This morning I found out that Woody had gotten an iPhone. That is interesting since he seemed to be really interested in mine over the last two weeks we taught class together. I showed him a couple of things about the standard apps and had a discussion with him on the apps that I use the most. I think it is time I get back into defining the GTD mode for my iPhone. Ok, maybe I have to figure out how to wean myself off of this phone.
