Even though the grandkids were over I got quite a bit done on my database server project today. I have been trying to add a major change to the interface brought on by a change in the way that contracts are handled by my customer in the Army. Not the guys who use the database, but the contracting personnel have changed the way they do things, different than what they have been doing for eight years. I guess that a software developers work is never done, especially when the project has been so valuable. I will keep banging through the night, need to get ahead of the curve.

Well, I really like the company that I have been with for 15 years. However, this weekend I started unloading a number of resumes to different places to determine if there is something out there that the Lord wants me to pursue. I hate to do it, but I need to make sure that I am employed in the near future. I cannot wait any longer. I promised myself that I would hold off until the last of the month and this weekend was that. I have been working some proposals with my name in them and I know that my resume has been passed around the company. I may get a trial project to work on in the near future, but I need to make sure that I have a clear period of time that I do not have to worry about work. I may in fact start looking into the government for work. Thus far I have limited my scope of resume's to BAH and Mitre and Monster.com. I will be putting my resume into other venues during this week. Hopefully, my Lord will reveal to me what He wants me to do in the near future. Keep on praying.

Well, now I'm back on the web database at work after working a proposal over the last two weeks. It's kind of good to hop around from project to project - it keeps you in mental shape. I don't think that I would like working a job where the task is the same day in and day out year after year. I am a techie and I want to make sure that the job that I have changes enough to keep it interesting. What I don't like of course is to be on a slippery slope where you don't know if you will be employed from day to day. I really like the company that I work for, however, if the Lord wants me to move on to something different I will gladly go where He leads.

I have to admit, this meal is one of my absolute favorites on the Vegetarian Plan from DTG. It is very very tasty, lots of brocolli and the pretzels are good too. Maybe I'm so happy because I just got the last of the proposal out to the prime contractor. It's a good feeling to not have to worry about that right now. Now I can get back to other issues that I've had to put aside while my focus has been on getting new work for the group. That is not a bad thing, just a time consuming thing. I have some great people working with me on this as well as some great individuals from the prime shop. Just glad that it is out the door!

Well, got home just a little bit before 10 PM. Boy am I tired. I hope tomorrow will be a little easier. I have a meeting with the prime contractor tomorrow at 1 PM. I'm hoping things go smoothly. I would hate to have to spend another night till almost 10.

Well, it seems the proposal is coming together after all. There are a couple of loose ends that I need to tidy up before I can pass it on to the powers that be. My friend is reviewing the prop right now and I have confidence that he is a good writer. My cleanup crew so to speak. I am fortunate to have him in my company. I hope that he finds the work that he would like to have. This prop is for a job that I think both of us would like to do. I passed on to my ABF this morning that a couple of things had happened that seemed to be an answer to prayer. I still need to find out what the Lord would like me to do but things are starting to gel where they seemed very distant before. I still like my company and I am happy that I have had the privilege to work with them for the last 15 years.

Well, it's always a change in the household when you bring work home to finish. In this case I am working on elements of a proposal in which I will play a part should we win the bid. So in that respect, I don't mind going past quitting time every once in a while. I told someone at work how much I enjoy working for this company. In fact to leave this company after 15 years would be a real hard sell to me. This company does a good job of taking care of their own. I am not too concerned about being employed after the end of March given their track record. I wouldn't think of going elsewhere unless it became more apparent that we are fighting a loosing battle (however I could be persuaded if I got an offer I couldn't refuse).
