It turns out that my health has been less than I would like over the past several years. There are several causes for concern:
- I am at least 60 # overweight and I take Blood Pressure Medicine.
- My BMI is over 35 and I have a greater than 40 inch waistline [both very big on the health concern list]
- I would like to get off of the Blood Pressure Medicine as soon as I can because of some of its side effects. Mostly the ones dealing with sleep and libido.
- I exercise all the time, sometimes going into the gym (Gold's Gym) between 5 and 10 times per week. But still I keep the same weight mostly because the more I exercise the more I eat. I need portion control to start loosing weight.
- I have noticed that my weight is creeping up on me.
- I have been wanting to get off of meat to cleanse my system from some of the toxins that I hear about.
- I need to get down to a good weight before I retire in the next 10 years or so.
- I think that I am verging on a pre-diabetic stage if not at it right now.
I am not saying that I am in poor health. In fact the amount of time that I spend at the gym has allowed me to do things that some people my age are not capable of. I just want to be in better health without side effects caused by medicine that I am taking. I have tried a whole bunch of things but it seems to lead back to the same thing, I need to control my eating habits, particularly my portion sizes. The large portion sizes are fine for trying to keep my weight the same - which it has been doing. But I now have a rather large BMI to contend with and a waist that is greater than 40 inches - both items being in the dangerous category for a male of my height.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this diet plan. I've spent my weekend pondering from whether to join to when do I join. Thanks!
