I think that I am stroking some curiosity amongst other diet concious people out there by posting this graph. However, I wanted everyone to see how I am getting along with my diet by showing a prediction and showing the actual right along side of it. I am being absolutely straight out in the open with this. Everyone knows my weight and what problems I have because I have posted them to the Diet blog. They also know what exercise that I have done or not done and when. I just want to make this complete by posting this graph (which will change from week to week). The prediction is based upon the Basal Metabolic Rate (Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years ); Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )). Daily caloric needs are found from multiplying the BMR by the Harris Benedict Equation values: Sedentary 1.2, lightly active 1.375, moderately active 1.55 (this is the value that I used), very active 1.725 Ihard exercise), and extra active 1.9 (very hard exercise). This gives you the amount of calories needed to sustain your current weight. If you then subtract the caloric input from that (in this case 1600) you end up with the net calories that you will not use. Divide that by 3500 calories per pound and you get the number of pounds of weight loss per day. This weight loss changes every day so you apply it in a series fashion to get the following graph.
